What is JogEngland?

JogEngland is England’s very own national recreational running network. The main aim is to get more people active through programmes of walking and jogging. They strive to provide a welcoming, social environment for people of all fitness levels to take part in simple and achievable activity.

Achieving more together

It is a nationally co–ordinated programme which is delivered locally in order to provide the best group and facility to that area – all areas have different needs, rural and urban JogEngland will work differently although the main principles remain the same. As part of the national jogging network people benefit from the on–going and varied support of friendly jog leaders and their fellow joggers. With JogEngland you are definitely not alone.

The joggers of JogEngland receive three main types of support: information, guidance and company, all designed to assist each member to improve their health and well–being in an enjoyable and safe environment.

JogEngland is is split into two sections, which work closely together:

  • Community
    • JogEngland sets up groups in the local community through the local authority and runs from local gyms, community centres, etc.
  • Workplace
    • JogEngland sets up groups within workplaces. This is usually contained to the one organisation but smaller and/or neighbouring companies can link in together to cover costs.

Why be more active?

A slight change in lifestyle can make a big difference to health at any time and whatever age. By exercising gently and regularly people can have more energy, make new friends, enhance self–esteem, help long–term weight loss and enjoy better sleep. Activity can also have specific health benefits by reducing the risk of heart disease, certain cancers, strokes diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and osteoporosis (brittle bones).

JogEngland leaders will assess people’s needs to ensure the appropriate level of activity is recommended and help people improve their quality of life, discover a whole new world of increased energy whilst feeling better about themselves and being able to eat a little of what they enjoy – there can be gain without pain!
